What it is

Nine interconnected blocks (Osterwalder & Pigneur) capture on one canvas how a firm creates value (Key Partners, Activities, Resources), delivers it (Customer Segments, Channels, Relationships, Value Proposition) and captures it (Cost Structure, Revenue Streams). Right side = market & value, left side = infrastructure, bottom row = economics.

When to use it

Startup and idea validation, pivoting, entering a new market, mapping the current model before a rebrand, or comparing several business models side by side.

How to apply

Fill it as a team with post-its in this order: Customer Segments → Value Proposition → Channels & Relationships → Revenue → Key Activities/Resources/Partners → Costs. Each block = short bullets, not paragraphs. Iterate after first customer interviews and tests of key hypotheses.
