Aligns your offer with what the customer actually wants.
Osterwalder's canvas zooms into the right side of the Business Model Canvas. Left square = Value Map: Products & Services (what you offer), Gain Creators (how you generate positive outcomes) and Pain Relievers (how you remove pains). Right circle = Customer Profile: Customer Jobs (what the customer is trying to get done — functional, social, emotional), Gains (outcomes they want) and Pains (what gets in the way). Goal: product-market fit — clear 1:1 links between what you deliver and what the customer actually cares about.
Developing a new product or service, articulating a value proposition, redesigning the offer, sharpening positioning, or when the product 'does everything' but doesn't sell.
Always start on the right — map the customer from research, not memory. Rank jobs, gains and pains by importance. Only then fill the left side and draw 1:1 arrows: each Gain Creator must address a specific Gain, each Pain Reliever a specific Pain. Anything left unconnected — cut or fix. That's your fit gap.
Agencies execute. Consultants advise. And then everyone wonders why the two never add up.
Clues does both. We look for the clues that point to the right path, and then we walk it with you all the way. Because strategy without execution is just a well-paid hypothesis.
We put this library together because we see structured thinking as the foundation of success. Whether you're working on your next campaign or building a brand-new brand.
Share it, use it, build on it. The Clues team.
